Hello

I have two copies of Jack Kerouac's On the Road.

One of them is a typical Penguin 'modern classics' and the other is a Penguin 'Classics deluxe edition.' Both of these were given to me as presents.

I have never read this book before and dont know which edition to read.

The 'Classic deluxe edition' is 'The Original Scroll'...from what I gather it was the first draft and hasn't been edited.

My simple question is, which one should I read first?

thanks

I would read the Penguin, look into the history of it and then read the original scroll.

Read the original scroll, it is much better and how he wanted it to be published

Actually, I would be interested to see what you thought of the original going into it cold, I don't know anyone who's done it that way around. Could you read it and let us know what you think?

Is it available in the original version?

Wow, I didn't know there was an "original scroll." I have to reread the book now and the history behind it.
