The snooze
button
is your
cue.
As I toss and claw at
remnants of my
dreams,
you
caterwaul
like a midnight tom.
Your mews
scratch my
submerged reveries
into shreds of cold reality
where I answer
the summons
to let you in
for morning
worship

I love cats. You have captured their imperious nature very well-and humorously, Delta.

Mine does the same thing!!!! He scratches at my window. If it's warm out, he'll wait until daylight, but if we forget to bring him in, and it's cold, it might be at 3 in the morning. I love how frantically he scratches at the window, like he's desperate to get in. He was desperate to get out, too.

What is it about cats? We seem to willingly enslave ourselves to them just so we can feel something warm and furry on our lap, even when they inject their needles into our knees and dribble. When they are not doing that they clog up the hoover with their fur! But for some reason we love them and a poem about one is a sure fire winner. This is no exception. Great poem D40.

I think you put it in a nutshell Hawk. I feel so owned by my cats. Slurkie and Hung Phat Chow rule the household without a doubt.
