Are you looking for non-fiction or novels dealing with French social etiquette?

For novels, Balzac, Flaubert, Proust are good choices.

I enjoyed the Princess of Cleves, an early novel form; it seems nearly a post-modern satire, in today's terms.

My library has like 3 copies of Franklin's Robe & Sword: The Regrouping of the French Aristocracy after Louis XIV, which seems to be the only book in English on the subject at my library. Haven't read it though.
