Hello all, just signed up to see if any kind souls out there could help me remember the title of a novel I read years ago but have since lent to a 'friend' and lost. Hours of searching the net have produced a big fat nowt so far.
Memories are a little sketchy but here goes - set in an American ghetto in the 60's, told from the perspective of 3 or 4 different characters. Two are brothers, one a pimp named Lonnie, one a straight working man. Another is one of Lonnie's girls, who begins a relationship with his brother. The last character I can recall is a young hood obsessed with James Cagney. The author may or may not have been called Norman.
Realise this is a longshot, but any help would be greatly appreciated by me & my laptop which is about to be smashed off the wall in frustration.
