Come,
listen to my Siren song
and comb
my salt-swept hair,
whisper in my
shell-shaped ear
which psalm you'd
have me share?

The ship,
your home,
they matter not!
Forget the one you've left!
Forget her tears
and sorrow-sighs,
soul mourning
and bereft

Never mind the swell of waves,
the tilt and heave of sea;
the cry of gulls
and scream of wind--
they're merely melody

Come,
listen to my Siren song
and stay upon my rock
I'll play my harp
and you shall comb
through dampened
auburn locks.

A poem for the LitNetter who dared call me a "Siren." :nono:

Whoever that was, he or she was wise enough not to call you a "sphinx". Great fun...

Very enjoyable. This could be put to music.

Some of the lines are indeed bewitching -

the swell of waves,
the tilt and heave of sea;

bring to mind my favoured element. Although I get to walk next to it every day it's images like this that remind me why I never tire of it.

I was that soldier and you are a mandolin playing siren, addictive by nature and we will all miss you when you crash and burn and move on to your next one :D
