Don't get me wrong
It's not about you
so much as your action
Letting me down
casts me back
to other men
I have cherished and loved
Father
brothers
uncles
cousins
Your action reminds me
of a pattern of pursuit
The kind where loved ones
don't come to my aide
and I clamber for their attention.

Ah sweet love
makes me grateful to receive
the smallest of morsels
that fall to the floor
where I relish its flavour
and hunger for more.

They don't keep in touch
unless I call.
I'm ready to message you
with all the force of my past.
Brace yourself for over the top
It might scare you from a mile.
Believe me.
It isn't about you
so much as your action.
I'm as dumb as the next gal
Not that dumb.
Did I say somehwere
I deserve better?
About feeling emotional?
Is it truly a social crime?

While I ponder the cards
we are dealt in this life
and endeavour to transform
my experiences into some
profound philosophy of truth
that is as rich as it is honest,

I was thinking the last line was using the American of calling a full stop a period but I may well be way off.

I am sensing you are not to fond of men in general Delta, based on your experiences of many a bastard.

It is self deprecating and honest of emotion, including self pity and it is a must read as are all of your posts.

lol. the poem is about feeling legitimately angry but the response (are you due for your period) is a complete discount of everything the person feels.
