Bridesmaids remain
in the background.
They bravely cross the span
where the ingenuity of others
is forged by exhilaration.

The sanctity of love,
that temporary residence
of all things sacred,
threatens to curmble
when faced with a wilting bouquet.

Bridesmaids are a fortress
of power for spinsterhood.
Sweeping floors,
taking out the trash,
being an afterthought.
They create aisles of obstacles
that kindle a man's desire.

I'm not sure I follow the logic of the argument all the way through but who can deny the powerful, acerbic wit of the final two lines?

I really liked this, I found the images quite powerful and the concept is rather an interesting one. The mention of the wilted bouquet brought to my mind Tennyson's Mariana, forever waiting.
