So I have a large stack of books I want to read, and I'm having trouble picking one, so any comments on which one you think I should start with would be appreciated.

Avian Gospels - Adam Novy
The Graveyard Book - Neil Gaiman
Some Things That Meant The World To Me - Joshua Mohr
An Arsonists Guide To Writers' Homes In New England - Brock Clarke
Augie March - Saul Bellow
Witz - Joshua Cohen
Infinite Jest - DFW
Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - Stieg Larsson
The Corrections - Jonathan Franzen

The only one I've read of those is The Graveyard Book, and I liked it and thought it was an interesting read. The story's pretty different from any children/young adult's book I've read before. I read that part of Gaiman's inspiration was The Jungle Book (hence the title), and being raised in a very unusual place by unusual means (graveyard & ghosts). It's pretty short too and won't take you too long to finish and move on to another book. I'd recommend it, but then I tend to enjoy books in that vein of literature.

augie march and infinite jest are pretty much modern classics. hard to go wrong if you want to bite into something massive.

Start with Larsson, by chucking it into the dustbin ;)

I'd read the Arsonist's Guide and chuck the rest.

augie march - anything by Bellow is worth reading, and he's not too difficult or too long.

I second that. I loved Augie March. Besides, it's the only one from the list that I've read.
