If you could go anywhere on Earth, where would you choose to go, and why?

I would go to Egypt, because for some reason, ancient tombs and pyramids interest me. I find it mind-boggling to comprehend how the Egyptians built the massive pyramids, and created perfect ninety degree angles in monuments.

Paris would be nice. I already have a friend that lives there (he came to America for a semester) so I would be set on housing. I've always loved it there, and whenever I look at my friends pictures it's like, "how can all these people be this beautiful?"

If not Paris, than Australia :)

I would retrace Henry Morton Stanley's route down the Congo. That or President Theodore Roosevelt's route down the Rio Roosevelt/River of Doubt.
Why? Because it'd be dangerous as hell and a good adventure.
Also, those are a couple things I think it'd be implausible for me to try to do. Most of the other places I'd want to visit are a bit more achievable.

Ellesmere Island, in the early summer. I'd like to go to that one little part that reaches just to the north of Greenland. I've always loved the arctic. . .the animal migrations (birds, fish, whales) would be the travel highlight of my life, I'm sure of it. The tundra, the glaciers, the sea-ice, the frozen summer air. . .man. The thought of lightin' up a cheap cigar, sitting on a glacier, the cold wind blowing the ash and smoke in my face. . .make me want to "yowlp!" right now.

That's where my beloved lives! :p

Just kidding...don't know really...there are a lot of places to choose from! Probably South Africa for the jungles and wildlife!

I would love to travel back in time and then travel the world. There are so many places I'd love to see, but I'd like to go at different eras. I enjoy the exotic, and today so many places and cultures have grown similar. I wish I could go into the wilderness when it was truly wild. (...of course, I'd be a little scared...)

Well, there's always my eternal love affair with Iceland to consider...

...but other than that, I would really like to spend some more time in the far east. There are lots of fascinating cultures out there that I have yet to explore.

I have been fortunate enough to have visited most of the places that I wanted to see but Japan remains on the list as does Vietnam. Japan because I love the innate discipline of its people, and Vietnam because they humbled the USA in war by sheer courage and dedication. I have absolutely no time for communism or any of its variants but the Vietnamese taught the US the price of hubris: a lesson that every nation needs to learn at some time in it history.
