The autistic spectrum of disorders affects millions of individuals and families. After reading ‘How Can I Talk if my Lips Don’t Move’ by Tito Rajarshi Mukhopadhyay, an autistic author, I was moved to share my attempt at seeing from his perspective. This is but one view of millions of possible views.
My voice pulses
ululates in colors,
ineffable dirty
white seen against
clouds passing
scream does not quite
convey vibrational
moans years
in the making,
my world rotates,
Shudders, stops ,starts
refracts like carnival
kaleidoscopes reflected
in revolving mirrors
shattered, mosaic slithers
taped with insecurity, futile
broken lines of communication
input is random, beyond my control
who knows whether your cloud
will hue into my spectrum,
your vibration enter my frequency
or resonate with my shadow,
allowing you a glimpse of this story
spun in quicksilver hematite
my reality is an escalator
of sensory input
you cannot perceive
how then
to bridge
such divides
