the best in espionage Literature. His latest effort, Our Kind of Traitor, has all the characteristics of classic le Carre: change in tense with the reader left to determine it without warning, MI6 professionals who have screwed up and are now given a second chance, amateurs recruited but not trusted by MI6, and a hard-boiled Russian crook ready to defect and point the finger at some British oligarchists. Now available on CD or book form. Either way, le Carre fans are in for another treat. Don't miss it!

I never realised he was 79.
He certainly is not slowing down.
I've enjoyed all of his books right the way back to "A Murder of Quality"
The only exception was "Journey Around My Father" which seemed to be a necessary process of self purging.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but do you mean A Voyage Round My Father by John Mortimer?

In "The Perfect Spy', one of my favorite le Carre novels, the narrative concerning protaginist Magnus Pym's father was autobiographical. Le Carre's father did serve prison time as a con man pursuing illegal pursuits. The only book I know of that Le Carre wrote that is not in the Crime or Espionage genre is "A Naive and Sentimental Lover' which I have yet to read. I think I have read all others.
