Do you see me? I need to know

Do you see me?
I am sitting in a prison cell
Do you see me?
here I sit, in a nightmare worse than hell
I’ve lived my life just like you
I loved my friends and my family too
I tried to care for those around me
I did my best to conform to society

Friends say I was simply in the wrong place
Others claim that I’m a disgrace
Depending on your point of view
And what reasonable doubt means to you
I swear to god there was another
But of course that doesn’t matter
Words spoken from a criminal’s mouth
Are nothing more than a whisper in a crowd
The priest is here, its time to go
What happens after you die? I need to know

My brother died in prison. I don't know what quality of human he was, but he was my brother, so he was good for me.
