Does anyone know anything about the poet who wrote "Abou Ben Adiem?"

I think his name was Hunt but I haven't read much about him. What do you think of the poem?

Some of Leigh Hunt's poems are alright. I think his lasting impact has been as a patron and publisher for Shelley and Keats.

Probably right Orphan, and a few prose works, as he was regarded as having a great style back in the day - still, that poem to me doesn't do it - though it is supposedly still popular in England.

I loved it so much when I was 8 or 9 I could recite it by heart.The post brings happy memories. Does anyone learn poetry these days? I still have a repertoire of about 7 I think. All learned before age 13. Believe me, a very long time ago!:smilewinkgrin:
