Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone had any input or knowledge about certain topics I am contemplating to write about for my history of political thought class. One of the listed essay topics is: On the three waves in Book V of the Republic.

I wasn't sure I would have enough to write about for 10 pages on the three waves question. The second potential question is On the Ends or Purposes of 'the City' in the Republic and the Politics - I was under the impression the purpose was implicitly the same? To have the ideal city, no? I mean, it's easy to contrast their systems more (Plato and Aristotle). What are your thoughts? I am considering increasing the range of this topic to include a comparison of the just ends of Aquinas and Augustine's notion of city of God.
