Stray love

Hello animal control?
there's a stray animal running loose
a terrible beast keep shredding the garbage
no.. No maam the garbage of my soul

Yes, that's right yes garbage..... soul
What does it look like?
its a wicked tricky fearsome beast sometimes seems small
other times its grown so tall that it shadows my every waking moment
and when it bites its like a death grip on my heart

what do you mean you don't understand
yes i know what it seems like but i know what it is
its stray love its escaped and come around again
cant you make a call and have it picked up and taken back to where it belongs
as you see its not meant to be
but when i least expect it come slinking back to torment me

isn't there a law against keeping such dangerous beast
shouldn't stray love be chained caged penned up
Leashed?
not allowed to roam around
chewing up peoples lives like so much dead meat

Hello hello?
please dont hang up i can here it scratching at the door
what's that?
i should get my own love and the stray
Would go away?
yes maam i have been looking but as you may know love is hard to find
just when you think you found the perfect pet it goes wild
and runs amuck making messes
that you have to clean up
Wonders if it can be paper trained?

I think its getting hungry again god help me if it gets in

Hello maam would you like to go to dinner?

dark

lol. I enjoyed this nightshift. There are a few grammatical errors and I urge you to go over them and correct them. I haven't looked at stray love as a beast but you have done such a good job of 'capturing' this driving emotion which is out of our control that I appreciate my own powerlessness when it cuts loose on me.

well done.

Amazing metaphor, an quasi comical scenario that is touching and disturbing at the same time. Love the helpline approach which sets up a skit-like dialogue which is extremely effective. It distinguishes it from all other generalized poems of pain and anguish and makes it very memorable.

Raucously funny and, of course, painful at the same time.
