So, I wanna know like, why they say that, like you know...it's best to umm, use images in poetry and concrete language instead of abstract concepts. Because well, I do. I mean, I figure some Greek guy probably said it and a whole bunch of people after that, but I was looking for some pointers on why this is considered a truth.

:) I like. Yes, why? Good question. I don't really know either. When people say abstractions, I'm not sure what they mean either. Do they mean abstract nouns, like Love, Fear, Pity and Mercy, Folly, which have been personified by many through history?

Poetry was first only spoken or sung. Spoken words that create a concrete image in the mind are easier to remember. Abstract ideas are more readily lost in the retelling. Again, just a thought.
