First I must say that this book in its entirety is phenomenal. During the beginning I had my doubts because it had, what I thought was, a slow start. But as i progressed in the book it drew my attention more and more. Its symbolism, representation, and predictions of the future were very enticing. Also the story line is very attracting. Myself being a high school student, I personally think that this was a challenging novel to wrap my mind around. Not because of my lack of vocabulary, but mainly these ideas and thoughts are very foreign to me. Lack of freedom and governmental total control is very frightening. Orwell has shown those of us whom have indulged themselves into this book that this can become not fiction but reality. But to prevent this from happening we must engulf ourselves in knowledge. As shown my Orwell there is strength in numbers (the Proles) but only if you have the knowledge to see what is happening and act. In conclusion this book is a MUST READ for high school students to prepare themselves for the future.
