I am curious to know why Enid Blyton has no pride of place on the timeless authors list here at Lit-Net. There are several renowned authors who wrote classic children's tales. I was always a fan of the Magic Faraway Tree and Naughty Amelia Jane. Does anyone else think Enid deserves a spot or if not, why?

I'm not sure she deserves a place on the list, as it were. I mean, the quality of her writing is hardly stellar, and most of her books are pretty samey - read one, and you've read most of them.
And there is the ever-present accusations of sexism and racism in her books - sure, this applies to other writers, but the quality of their art is sufficient to allow one to ignore/overlook that particular failing; in the case of Blyton, I don't think her capacity as a writer is sufficient to deal with these negative effects in a modern audience.

Beatrix Potter is on there for Christ's sake.

I don't know about Stephen King but Enid Blyton, without a doubt occupies a place in the lives of children. New editions of her books are still available in bookshops - some even made PC to reflect the social attitutdes of time (I mean gollywogs are just so damn offensive aren't they....)
