In reality many people think the book 1984 is boring, and not needed as an educational book. I on the other hand believe that this book is needed in order to prove to people that the government is changing and trying to control every aspect of our lives with different ways. First was the phone tapping, then the extreme airport security due to 9/11, they are adding full body scans and pat downs now. One of the new technology games, the one where you move and the people on the screen mimic you, was said that the game makers can turn on their cameras to watch you to see what is making you quit the game to improve the actual game. What is to say that they aren't watching you just to watch you? And you never know when they are watching you. Now that's not the government, yet. What if the government decides to buy the software where they can watch everyone in the U.S.? We need to realize that this can happen. And unlike the proles in 1984 we all need to be able to recognize that our rights are slowly being taken away. Therefore, this book is a necesity in the classrooms to read and understand. Not only was it in my opinion a fantastic book, but it heeds warning. More people should be reading 1984 by George Orwell.
