I think 1984, by George Orwell, is a good book. I don't think it's necessary to read but it's a good idea to just read it for fun. To me this book was interesting and I liked how there was so much suspense and detail. It always kept me guessing. But on the other hand,the book doesn't really offer anything that we need to know. Sure there are some good ideals presented in the novel, but there really isn't anything that is in that book that we can't live without knowing. There are predictions about our future, but no one will know if they come true or not. It's more of an entertaining book rather than an educational book. So I wouldn't consider this book to be mandatory to read in school, but never the less it is a good book to read.
