This is a thread where you list the great writers/works that you dislike/hate/or apathetic for what ever reason. No matter how much some people appreciate great writers/works, there are some they don't like. Are you one of those people?

Lists, lists and more lists.
Now please name me all the works you dislike that begin with an A and end with a D. It's important that I know this!

I think this a tricky question because I've found my views of certain works change with age. When I took a Henry James/Edith Wharton grad class, I was the ONLY one in the class who liked Henry James's work. Everyone else complained about him, and even then, I only liked his early to middle works that we read (Daisy Miller, Portrait of a Lady) and couldn't stand his later work (The Ambassadors, and a short story whose name I forgot, and some other stuff).
My teacher remarked to the class that people tend to appreciate James more when they get older. According to her, you basically have to be in your forties to fully appreciate James.
I HATED HATED HATED Wharton's Ethan Frome when I first read it in 11th (so 16? 17 years old?) grade as required reading. Guy tries to murder himself by sledding into a tree, really?!
But then, I re-read it when I was 21, after I've had a few relationships and I suddenly found myself really liking Ethan Frome.
I am sort of ambivalent about Salinger's The catcher in the Rye (http://beyondassumptions.wordpress.com/2009/04/20/booklist-2009-15-the-catcher-in-the-rye-by-j-d-salinger/)(link is to my thoughts on my book blog), but I didn't exactly hate it either. Meanwhile I remember liking that book more the first time I read it in high school.
So I think it's hard to answer this for me because my viewpoints constantly change for a variety of reasons.
Now please name me all the works you dislike that begin with an A and end with a D. It's important that I know this!
Perhaps we should make a thread about our favorite lists of lists,
