"I am a Bell Ringer"
in his autumn world
written across his Santa red frock

Outside the grocery
he wants more silver pieces
to make more silver bells
'See me' he rings 'see me'
and when wintery sun goes down
in waltz with the late harvest moon
the November red-oranges
become night-time blues

He goes home
and his plain Jane wife
knows to and how to
love her Bell Ringer
Thinking about her
(and everyone else
in his Bell Ringer life
that knows he's
their Bell Ringer)
makes me want to be a bell ringer too
but I lack the bells to declare

So I go home alone
and he goes home to warmth
in his November red frock
that turns his Autumn world

I confess I have no idea what this is about Jack, but as happens, when it's written a certain way, this didnt stop me appreciating it very much.

Well, MFC.
(The M is for Merry, the C for Christmas; the F is understood I think.)

There's something Dickensian about it: the poor being the happy, at least in this case.
I really like the bit about the oranges and "but I lack the bells to declare".
