Rolf the Ripper went downtown
With a bagful of sorrows he thought he could drown
Then he ran into the Happy Man
Who said hey son got any cash?
Rolf had none
But he wanted a gun
So he could shoot old Joe right in the face
Been his enemy since 1993.
Old Joe was not impressed
Since 92 he'd been depressed
Let's make it up as we go along
Rolf never had a chance.

Baffling. It starts off sounding like a ballad of sorts but degenerates into a list of unrelated events that we are supposed to make some sense of but are obviously unable to.
I think the line 'Let's make it up as we go along' is particularly fitting here.

I'll not ask what it is you were drinking - but Dylan Thomas never had this problem when he was sloshed.

The Happy Man would be Joe, right? And this Rolf and Joe guy are friends, yet they dislike each other a lot of the time? Or they always get into trouble? At least that's how I read it. Interesting nonetheless; drunkenness itself can be quite the art.

Well what I gather is Rolf is youth with no money and Joe local shop keeper or barman.
Rolf shot for money for drink.
Good poem. I like it.
