There's a baby beneath the christmas tree
and he doesn't belong to you or to me.

We are hanging baubles,
drinking sherry, feeling warm.
Coca cola santa wrapped in red,
Dickensian children,
snuggled up in bed.

Feeling love throughout the land,
as though it is christmas,
in every snow blessed house
and we are all connected
yes, even the mouse.

Our connections run deep
but some we deny.
We learnt A,B and C
but he never did.
This baby was P.

He binds us in our wrongs,
the sickness within,
the truth we cannot find
whilst faking goodwill
to all of mankind.

There's a baby beneath the christmas tree
and he is a part of you and me.

Talk about denial and collective guilt. Great job jer in showing the polarity of the haves and have nots, with just the right mix of sarcasm and sensitivity. Baby P RIP.

Shamefully, I confess to regret that I was directed to that link.

Bless you, JerryB, for this poem which does as much as it can to make amends on behalf of all of us.
