Pillars of The Earth by Ken Follet

Learned that one of my favorite novels PILLARS OF THE EARTH was adapted into a miniseries - looks incredible! Has anyone else seen this? Apparently the DVD releases next week 11/23. Thought I'd share, for any of my fellow Pillars fans out there.

Yes, it has been broadcast in UK over the past few weeks. I watched the first episode - hmm, so-so, imo: lots of introductions of characters, of course. I have not been able to watch following episodes so cannot comment on how it has progressed. You may be disappinted that the characters in the film are inevitably different to how you imagined them.

I really enjoyed Pillars of the Earth. Not so much World's End but I would be interested in watching the mini-series. I wonder if dear Australia will get a look in....

I saw it. It was decent enough I guess, but the book was a lot better. They changed a lot of the basic storyline, presumably to make it more interesting for television. However, they do include most of the memorable scenes from the book. Plus, they never really bothered to age the characters, which took something away from it, since the book is supposed to take place over 30 or 40 years. They only gave the characters gray hair at the very end. Plus, the Jack character was in his late teens from the beginning instead of 11 like in the book.

I loved the book, not interested in seeing the mini series even if it does come to Australia.
