My pen is heavy
and soul is wrung
you cannot know my agony
To do the things
that I have done
endures a certain gravity

My poor mere mortals!
I have made!
While you waste, stricken dumb!
(I draw upon a
rare sadness
I felt when I was young)

Who's this that wears
these tattered robes
and sagebrush for a crown?
What idiot belts
and swiftly makes
that hollow, empty sound?

Nevermind

My work is great
I'm sure you see
I fight for every line
but making sure you realize that
sure does steal my time

Who the **** is King Lear?

I got the feeling when I first read this that the narrator does indeed 'fight for every line'.

It's written in a classical style of sorts - a soliloquy - but that line 'sure does steal my time' sounded a bit too contemporary for what has gone before, and pulled me up slightly. Perhaps that was the intention here?

Jack.

That's all.
