Why not rebel?

In the book 1984, Winston is rebeling agaisnt BB and the government. He reliezes that the government has total control over everything in the human civilization. He works in a department that takes old history and rewrites it as propaganda. What I don't understand is that why don't the other people working in his department relieze that the government is telling them to make lies about everything in the past and erease it? Why don't they try to rebel? Do they not relieze that they are being decieved? Or do they just not want to relieze what is happening to their world?

i believe the people dont rebel mainly because they don know any other way and they have been brainwashed all their lives to follow bb and no question anything or anyone. they know the severe consequences and would rather just follow what theyve been told all along.:boxing_smiley:

I believe that the fear that big brother has instilled in them stops them from doing anything about it. I believe that it is also likely that they have been brainwashed so much that most of the propagandist honestly believe that the lies are for the best of every one.

How would they rebel? No one has the power and they are smart enough to realize THAT. Unless they're Parsons. Then they want BB to rule forever and would never revolt.

The people of Oceania do not rebel because they have been brainwashed into thinking everything Big Brother is doing is for the best. Those that do not believe this have no way of safely finding out whether anyone agrees with them because they are constantly under survellance . If anyone triede they would or have been vaporized .So nobody trys to rebel .

Most think big brother is right anyway, so why care if something is wrong? Also, the people aren't smart enough to realize they are making lies

The Outer Party members have no ability to rebel. And as far as the Inner Party, why would they want to change things.

The reason why they do not rebel is because all of the people underr BB's control are brainwashed. The people all believe that what he is telling them is true and they do not care to think twice about what they are being told. As long as BB has someone else to blame everything on (Goldstien) then he has nothing to worry about because all of those people are so unedeucated to realize what is really happening.

The people do not rebel because they do not have the capability of knowing what they are rebelling agaisnt. The people do not know anything except what BB has been telling them. Also they dont rebel because they are scared to be vaporized.
