Timely
It's been a hard week for me
Death has visited three times
My wife and I hold that is the rule
For some obscure reason unknown
First a kitty ostensibly a Father's Day gift
Nineteen years ago so I couldn't resist
Then a Brother-in-law who tried to
Drink himself to death and failed miserably
My Sister-in-law left homeless
Coming for a visit
Lastly a kitty one had left us in charge
With its kitten for a weekend
Eight weeks ago
I'll bury and plant lilacs over her today
And cherish her little kitten as my own
With prayers for all

Back, perhaps, after I bury a kitty.

Perhaps it is early morning but I feel like there is at least four deaths you have had this week (which is enough for anyone in this world)

no don't tell me your brother-in-law and sister-in-law are both gone! Or is it a symbolic death? I feel for you, I lost 3 cats in 15 months. In any event a hell of a week you had. My condolences Tailor.

Thank you Delta40 and Haunted for your kind words.
'Only' three deaths this week. My Sister-in-law will actually be allowed to live the remainder of her life, if she so chooses, tied no longer to a... but I digress and seek repentance for my judgment.
Living in the country we lose so many pets - so many different ways. Some are trapped, some run over (as was "Cubby"), some shot. Some lost to foxes, to mountain lions, to coyotes, etc. Some to extreme weather. The rarity is the kitty who dies of old age as our "Precious" did. Down from a maximum of 20, we now have 10 kitties (if I counted right): 6-outdoor, & 4-indoor (2 of which roam too far from home each day).
Of the 10 remaining, 9 are the product of dumping or propagation thereof (the one, my "Scooter Pi", was rescued by a 'friend' and we adopted him from the 'friend' , so "Scooter Pi" doesn't count as being dumped on us - but then the 'friend' in turn dumped 2-more on us, "Cubby" and her kitten "Princess", sigh). All but 2-kitties 'fixed', and that to be remedied soon.
With apologies for being long-winded,

You really love your pets Tailor. Our home recently lost our dog of ten years. There's a bit of void in the home without her at the moment.

A grievous catalogue of woe, tailor. More than enough for one week.
Live long and prosper. H

I am not a big pet person here Tailor, but that is not to say I could not feel your pain, deftly put.
best wishes
Jerry
