Winston believes that the only hope for a revolution must come from the proles. The proles are uneducated so do not understand what life should be like, or that their life is being completely run by the party. I do not think the proles would have any reason to revolt against Big Brother because they are content living the way they are now. The prols do not have any hatred towards the government and have no reason to because they are satisfied with all the porn, beer, and lottery tickets they need. They could not live this simple life without the party watching over, an individual would not survive in a world alone without a controlling government.
