arsha was a much loved girl. Her mother adored her and her father spoiled her. Being an only child, and with no sibling to mess around she was happy. Marsha's father was a police officer. She always was with his father at work. Whatever he did she watched. Marsha was in meetings, took rides in patrol cars, passed afternoons with the dogs, and even was shown how to shoot a gun. Many would think that this was an irresponsible thing to do, but not for the father, nor to his co-workers. They thought that seeing a little girl try and lift a pistol was cute.
Marsha's life was almost perfect. The only thing to avoid such thing was the monster in the closet. Every night Marsha's parents checked the closet, but strangely they could find nothing. Even when Marsha's parents stayed with her until she fell asleep nothing would appear. Every time they left Marsha could hear the growling of the monster coming from behind the closet doors.
One night Marsha decided to do something about the situation. She knew the combination to the safe where her father had the gun. She grabbed it when nobody was looking and hid where she could reach it from bed. That night she said good night to both parents and told them not to check the closet. Minutes after the lights were out growling started. Marsha fetched the gun and returned her look at the closet, but the growling was now in front of her. The sound was accompanied by a couple of red eyes, fangs and a tongue. The monster salivated on her face and Marsha left out a scream and closed her eyes. When she dared to look again the presence of the monster was missing. While trembling, Marsha looked everywhere in her room for signs of evil. She then heard the knob of her room shuffling, and pointed the gun in that direction. When the door started to open Marsha closed her eyes and shot. There were three shots; she counted them. With her eyes still closed and wishing that the monster was dead she heard her name in a whisper. She opened her eyes and saw her mother all bloody. Those bullets, those three bullets were directed to her mother.
Marsha with tears shouted for her mother and ran towards her. She hugged her with all her might; she did not want to let go. Her mother did the same until the last breath arrived. Marsha screamed to her mother commanding her not to die when she heard laughter. Marsha moved here face and saw the red eyes, the fangs and the tongue outside the window. The wind blew and the monster disappeared.
