Happy Birthday, SLG! :)

An interview with Stlukesguild:

*Why are we doing this interview thing?*
I have nothing better to do on a Sunday morning.

*Are you sure you want to do this?*
We'll see.

*Who killed Roger Rabbit?*
It wasn't me. I swear. Mmmmm Hasenpfeffer!!

*So, how old are you?*
Too old.

*If you had a personal theme song what would it be?*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iDl2zwF8TM

*Are you male or female? *
Male

*What makes you keep coming back?*
I wish I knew. Boredom, perhaps. Nothing on TV. Interesting dialog (sometimes).

*Are you happy with the way things are here?*
It has its ups and downs.

Should JBI get an + beside his name?
I don't know what JBI needs... outside of someone to give him a good whack every now and then.

*Which languages do you speak?*
Anglais. I took German for 3 years but haven't used it seriously such a long time.

*How do you like your home town?*
I would leave it in a minute if I could.

*If you could live somewhere different, where would it be and why?*
London, Paris, Florence, or Rome... one of the big European cultural centers. I need to have an access to great art and music.

*Do you have any pets?*
A dog... Guenivere.

*What makes you happy?*
Art, music, reading,

Who is your favourite Beatle?
John

*Given the option, what animal would you choose to be?*
A tiger. Its always better to be the one eating than the one eaten.

*How did you meet your significant other?*
I was working for her parents.

*Who inspires you most?*
Various artists, writers, and composers... past and present. Sometimes the kids I teach.

*What are you naturally good at? (Skills, abilities, gifts etc.)*
Art (drawing/painting), writing, research... my baseball career's over.

*What is the one thing you must do before you die?*
Visit the Sistine.

*If you had to teach something, what would you teach?*
I do have to teach... art.

*What would you regret not fully doing, being or having in your life?*
I should have completed my Masters immediately after the Bachelor's degree.

*What one thing would you NEED to have on a deserted island if you didn't have to worry over food and water? *
I'd need books and music. I could make my own art.

*If you were a king/queen for a day, what would you do?*
You don't want to know. It'd get ugly.

*What song is in your head at the moment?*
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JErVP6xLZwg
They kept playing it in the movie I was watching last night.

*Which book are you reading at the moment?*
An art book: Robert Kushner: Gardens of Earthly Delights. Kushner paints these marvelous and unabashedly beautiful paintings of flowers inspired by Asian and Middle-Eastern art:

*What is your favourite quote?*

Evenings.

*What are you wearing at the moment?*
Speedos, cowboy boots, and a feather boa.:yikes:

*Favorite poem?*
Dante- The Comedia

*First novel you remember reading on your own?*
The Wizard of Oz

*What era do you find most of the books you read are from?*
I have books spanning the whole of literary history... but simply on the basis of numbers, I'd have to say the 20th century amounts for the largest portion of my library.

*Favorite TV shows?*
I rarely ever watch TV.

*Which Forum members would you like to meet in person?*
Petrarch's Love, Virgil, JBI (so I could give him a good whack), Mortal Terror (we'd argue about art and music... but also be able to share a couple beers. Neely... Quasimodo... JCamillo, DarkShadow, AlexanderII, Kafka'sCrow... and undoubtedly a number of others.

*Last person you hugged/kissed?*
My wife.

*What do you do (for a living) to be able to keep your LitNet addiction going? And are you happy with your chosen profession?*
I teach art to crazed vandals.

*Would you rather be an educated fool or an ignorant fool?*
I don't think I have a choice at this point, do I?

*What would you like to be if you could change your profession?*
Full-time artist.

*Which one of the seven dwarves are you and why?*
Horny... What? What do you mean he wasn't one of the original seven?

*If you could change one thing about the way you look, what would that be?*
I could definitely stand to lose a "few" pounds.

*Which book do you wish you had written?*
Harry Potter. I'd be retired, wouldn't I?

*What should you be doing at the moment instead of answering these questions?*
Making breakfast.

*Describe your ideal day, please.*
Sleep late. Now work. Visit an art museum. Spend the day in the studio painting and listening to music. A concert in the evening and dinner with the wife. After that...?:D:reddevil:

*Favorite movie?*
I love Dr. Strangelove... and The Nightmare Before Christmas.

*Last movie you watched?
À la folie... pas du tout

*Favorite painting?*
So many... perhaps this one:

Bowie, yay or nay?
The Stones, man!

*Wonderful Superman or depressing Batman?*
Batman without a doubt.

*Are you mostly happy with life or are you still in pursuit?*
Always in pursuit.

*How long did it take you to answer all of these questions?*
Too long... the wife's getting impatient for breakfast.

Happy birthday Stlukes, so many birthdays lately, and so little wit I have to generate original things to say to everyone.

Thanks all. AS birthdays go it was a good one. We were given the day off because of elections and so I spent most of my time in the studio painting and listening to Elmore James, John Lee Hooker, J.S. Bach, and some Indian ragas. This was followed by a marvelous dinner out with the wife and a close friend... including three Long Island Ice Teas. Amazing I can still type.:sosp:

Found the birthday thread and the interview. Apropos of the former, Many Happy Returns. Apropos of the latter, here are some additions for your collection:

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/LeonardoD/Feather-Boa.jpg

and until you can make it in person, how about the rollercoaster-like version of the experience:

Not quite the Sistine, but if you're ever in Chicago I can get you free admission to the Art Institute and we could bemoan the woes and struggles of the elitist set in person. :)
