Newspeak World Today

Newspeak is a language used so big brother can control the people’s thoughts by eliminating words that challenge the government. This dumbing down of the language will eliminate thought crime and will destroy all concepts that big brother views as rebellious. In our culture today many words in the English language are not in our everyday vocabulary. Also people not know all the words in the language, and are not using the language to their advantage. Is this "forgetting" of words in our world today having the same effect as in 1984?

It can't do what Orwell thought, but I have no doubt the dumbing down of communication is a negative for humankind - clarity of message saves an awful lot of time.
