I know the aim of the Party is to obtain complete power and to keep hold of it, but how is it planned to be achieved? I haven't read that far into the book yet so please don't give too much infomation away. :smile5:

Well The Party is slowly but surely taking power. They are limiting all persons in the book (except the Proles but you will read about them later) by using constant surveillance and limiting the thought of people. Also The Party may abduct anyone if they are even suspected that said person(s) is/are hiding something from them or committing "Thought crimes"

All that is explained, so I'd have to give the story away to tell you.

I'm past chapter two now and I understand that the Party barely keeps watch of the Proles. To my understanding the proles are exactly like homeless people you see on the streets these days, barely under watch and whenever they get some money they just spend it on booze. Winston believes the proles are perfectly capable to rebel, but once he sees how they fight over just pans he realizes it wouldn't go well. If everyone else is practically brainwashed, who will have the courage to stand up for themselves? How will the Party keep everyone else under control and happy so that they won't turn on BB? They can't please all people.
