Winston's view of the dark-haired girl, Julia, has now changed as he actually knows who she is, and learns that she rebels against The Party as much as she can. Her actions would make her an unperson; she'd be vaporized if she were caught. But as Winston thinks, and I agree, that maybe The Party and its members like to preach pureness, but in truth break all the rules and get away with them. Their actions may resemble the complete opposite of what everyone else thinks they really are. What do you think of this?

I think that your right, but who is going to rise and say something. Only the suicidal or the stupid.

yes, the Inner Party are the ultimate hypocrites, but that's the whole point - ordinary Party members do not follow the lead of the Inner Party, they do as they're damned well told!

The only reason for the Party is to own power and any deception or crime is fine in perpetuation of that power.

They just do not give a damn about anything else, so the small hypocrisy of taking "illegal" pleasures becomes irrelevant.

If this is true then, and the Party's only want is power, then what is the point in having power over the mindless? If you avidly follow the Party, then you're basically brainwashed, believe the principles of doublethink, and also believe that 2+2=5 when need be. The mindless are just like robots, and if you have power over mindless robots, then you have power over nothing. Right?

No, you need the manual power of the proles (and outer Party) to do the dirty jobs. Whether they have brains or not doesn't matter, in fact, the more robot-like they are, the better.
