Essay problem

I'm doing an MA module on the Interpretation of Myth. The essay title is (word for word): "Consider one or more attempts to interpret myth by focussing on the role of the hero (i.e in Graves, Campbell, Muller, Frazer, Kerenyi etc)"

I'd like to compare Campbell's 'Hero With A Thousand Faces' with someone, but I don't know who. I also want to work in a bit on the Homeric hero (which Campbell barely mentions). Any ideas?

Hmm, I'm sure I've read stuff on the Homeric heroic model, but I can't think of where. Aristotle's goes over the role of tragic heroes in Greek drama in the Poetics, that's about all I've got off the top of my head. Good luck.

How about Frye in his Anatomy of Criticism?

Would Bettelheim's The Uses of Enchantment be of any use to you? There is a brief section on the differences between Myth and Fairy Tale but the text in general often refers to Mythical heroes.
