Man's love is unchecked
until there is divination
in crystal gazing.
For a rose coloured moment,
even purgatory surrenders
amdist his manic fervour.
But romance is shackled
and holds me captive
to either God, Gandalf
or Dumbledore.
Alas, I succumb to such
keepers of thraldom,
these watchmen of passion
whose love is as profound
as a lewd Carry-on film.

Romantic Love v Unbridled Lust

I can tell straight away you're a romantic from the lilac font - and it's amusing how you contrast the romance of myth (in some of the expressions you use as well as the references) with the reality of a carry-on film. Clever stuff.

:auto: arrives back from checking out thraldome and lord of the rings reference :D

You will get away with lord of the rings and master potter but the carry on movies are gonna draw a blank in many parts of the world..

I am still not sure what you are saying completely but I am thinking men do not come out well here. (looks for support from his fellows in the shallows).

I loved the phrase, these watchmen of passion and I could feel your passion in what you were writing and so enjoyed the reading.

I knew we were in trouble from that monosyllabic title! I could retort Women! but I know none of us on this side of the gender gap can get as much venom into the word, notwithstanding the extra syllable.

It's an elegantly controlled poem.
