The Two Worlds
Were Michael Angelo in flesh today
Would he look to Harlem walls in search of inspiration?
Be William Shakespeare here
Would he value controversial raps?
Would Fredrich Nietzsche call the street lord wise?
Though these answers we cannot have
The important one at reach exists
Can ‘we’ appreciate each and everyone?
Be there a danger in this venture?
Or to play safe within the box of academics?

Interesting questions and I share the moral implication of the concluding lines.

Thought-provoking, and I tend to feel that the two worlds are actually one. Art evolves - but the beauty is that what came before is not lost. Its DNA is still there for us to feed on and learn from.

This poem truly think outside the box. The answers are probably a resounding yes, as the old masters were always the contemporaries of its time.

Thanks everyone! I'm new to this forum, but I can't tell you how exciting it is to find so many people with a common interest.

Welcome !
"Michael Angelo" grates on me a teeny-tiny bit.
I enjoyed the line "Or to play safe within the box of academics?" best.

Great questions Jake. As they were masters of their time, I would say they are here in the masters of this time and we can only guess at the names that will be remembered long from now and like then, some will be unknown now.
I am however, by and large a philistine. :)
Welcome.

Good point, Jerry. Who will be remembered long from now? Perhaps someone from this forum...
