You need to despise yourself
to the very core,
before you can despise others,
for reflecting
your own weakness.
You need to not love somebody
to your very depths
to appreciate that love
flows in blood.
You need to think too much
to see your love
is pure procreation
and the need to protect your young.
With the cat out of the bag,
you need a poem
to give a meaning
where there is none.

I on the other hand (dissenting from Hill) found light all the way through this: the light of intelligence, of honesty, of someone daring to the best of his ability to face some harsh truths about himself and others.
