Faith

Eternal spark,
embedded deep
in mortal flesh and bone.
Since ages dark
‘neath clouds of time,
it’s power ever known.

The inner touch of Living God
which turns our path astray,
from Self within,
from carnal sin,
faith bids us look away.

Faith calls us to our sense of Spirit
beyond what mortal eyes perceive.
Past fleshy bonds of carnal senses,
to that which only hearts believe.

Faith casts it’s shadow over time.
It clears the path of history,
to chart the course which men will climb
enroute to greater destiny.

With faith in heart we reach beyond
the chains of mortal strife
to touch the Holy face of God,
where lies eternal life.

The evidence of things unseen,
the substance of our living trust.
Faith imbues the space between
the God we seek and earthly dust.

A well-crafted poem with a pretty regular rhythm that changes from verse 3 onwards as it builds to a climax.

There are a couple of minor typos if you will permit me -

L6 - it's should be its

and

L19 enroute should be en route

"Forgive us our trespasses" is part of The Lords Prayer.

I'm therefore personally a little uncomfortable with references to "carnel sin" and "carnel senses."

There is a school of Jesuit thought that lays more emphasis not so much on "What God Commands" as on what "God Permits."

Please read "carnal" for "carnel". Its that time of night where I am!

I quite like how the poem captured the essence of faith here. It occurred to me the mention of carnal sins suggests more awareness of what cannot be engaged in as opposed to what can be practiced under the auspice of Faith

A strong poem to my mind. A worthy elucidation of the gospel principle of faith.

Verse two, L1 & L2, gives me that "je ne sais quoi" feeling for some reason. I've printed your poem out for my further study.

Well done.

Verse two, L1 & L2, gives me that "je ne sais quoi"<---I'm real stupid so I had to paste that into a search box to find out the meaning.....it sounds positive:confused5: feeling for some reason. I've printed your poem out for my further study.

Well done.

Thanks...I've been to your page and I like the stuff you write also.
