A little bit of happiness
fell into my lap
a few minutes ago!

I wouldn’t say
that I had earned it or,
perish the thought!
that I deserved it
but - there it was.


So I thought
I’d mention it to you.

A touch of serendipity... nicely conveyed, and of course the reader is never going to be told what it actually was that caused such joy (nor does he/she need to be told).

Hi Prince, I'm glad you had a little joy to share and I like the light rhythem of the first 2 stanzas, but the last two lines, I feel, are just a little too much.

Thanks to all, and Jerry, you were SO CLOSE it freaks me out!

Actually it was when my newly installed modem got knocked to the floor. Still functioned fine but a little plastic doohickey that is meant to hold it upright got knocked off and disappeared. It was absolutely nowhere to be seen in the room and I went straight into the mood defined by an aphorism I once wrote


If something goes missing, can the rest be far behind?

Went off to my cafe, wrote a couple of nasty lines telling God off, then came home, got the broom, moved the cumbersome loveseat away from the wall so's I could sweep underneath it and

there the little [obscenity] [obscenity] [really VILE obscenity] was!
