I have to write an essay about poetry(what poetry means to people,what can we learn from it,what world would be like without it,i should mention some poets and their poems).The possible title can be :Poetry is a dream about one happier and prettier life.Could you help me?I'm not so good in writing.Thanks in advance.

I've just read your post and don't know if the deadline for your essay has long past, but I'll try to help.

First off, are you supposed to argue what YOU personally think poetry means to people, the value of it and what we can learn from it?

If the answer is yes, well then, you're going to have to decide what your answers are to those questions. It might be helpful to look at the various poetry movements and see what they thought. Then see which one you most agree with and use that as the starting point for your essay.

Say for example, you decide you most agree with the Romantics' views on poetry and its purpose. Lay out in your essay that you'll be arguing such and such is the value of poetry and that this is in accordance with the Romantics' view on poetry. Then flesh out what that view was and use examples from the work of romantic poets to back up your argument.
