I am working on a novel study project in my english 12 course and I was wondering if 2001: A Space Odyssey is a suitable chioce?

Could you provide more details? What is the aim of the project?

The project consists of a four week time frame to read the book with each week having to write a novel precis (summarizing the plot, doing a character profile, and writing on one of the major themes in the section read during the week). After that is completed there is a project assigned doing a novel review or other choices given, and finally an in class composition on theme and other topics.
