I was wandering if such a thing exists, at least in well-written form :)
I am aware of two examples, but no more.
One is the theosophical works of the infamous Helena Olga Blavachky, but those made me feel quite alarmed, and to a degree disgusted, when i read some of them in my university years.
The other is Hesse's work, particularly some novels. They have oriental philosophy in them, and also some mysticism.

But i am looking for more :)

I wrote one such story a few nights ago, about an apparition of the elephant-god Ganessa :)

What do you mean? I am not looking for a particular author, just anything (decent) that might exist :)

No, I meant the book "Namesake" - they made a Kal Penn movie from it, which was actually quite good. It may not be what you are looking for, as it takes place in the US Northeast (you asked for European, but did you mean "Western"?), and doesn't have a strictly Hindu theme, but does have elements dealing with Hindu ideas.

Thank you, i will have a look :)
I wrote "European" because i was mostly looking for something born out of the era of oriental interests in some literary circles in Europe, which i think had not yet reached the US at that time.
