This short story is written in first person narrative. The narrator is a young female living on a farm in a valley (I believe that the story is German and set in Germany). The girl wants to kill her boyfriend/fiancee, a beer guzzler named Bud.
The girl makes a giant icicle on her roof which will fall on and kill Bud. She buries some champagne under the icicle and has a drunken Bud dig it up. She hits the icicle but it falls beside, and not on Bud. The girl later causes an avalanche with the snow on her roof that smothers Bud. She jumps in the shower (as an alibi, I suppose), but a neighbor digs Bud out.
Eventually, the girl and Bud go on a holiday to Africa where he is killed by a falling coconut. Oddly enough, she realizes that she loved him and misses him.
Does anyone know what story this is? A friend and I hear a man reading it on the radio last night and are trying to find the story and radio show.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
