Everything is as quiet as fresh green leaves
after a day and a night of high winds along with torrential rains!
The ambiance is so wonderful, so right,
that I'd think I'm in Heaven.

I almost forget we're still in the eye of a typhoon,
the earth is still turning round and round,
and the good old time is still aging faster than anyone's guess!

If only I could turn myself into the artificial sunflowers
that have been hung on the wall over my bed!
After all these years, they are still young and beautiful,
always bring me delightful smiles without fail
whether it's summer or winter!

This is different than your previous work. But thoughtprovoking indeed!

I love the way you convey the silence after the storm - but I'm afraid I shudder when I see someone using adverbs the way you have here - it's probably a personal thing so please do not take offence:

charmingly quiet

heavenly wonderful

adverbs are usually a sign of lazy writing because we rely on them to do our work for us, and they never succeed.

Neither of the two you have chosen really manages to show what you want them to -

how quiet was it really? as quiet as that moment between two breaths? as quiet as the deepest trough of sleep?

and how wonderful? as wonderful as the smile of a new day? or the scent of jasmine on the breeze?

Best wishes as ever, H

Elegant, simple, charming, yet still containing that element of threat, that which is to come. Thanks, Ang, brilliant as ever!

Thanks, Hillwalker, for the nice words and your insigtful analysis!
I guess you're right about it!
I was a bit lazy when I used those two adverbs!
I'll spend some time in thinking how to rewrite the adverb parts!

Serene and charming! Yet the dark fear of time's winged chariot coming near is lurking in it. Brilliant poem Ang!

Ang oh Ang. I dont know how you keep doing it, but keep doing it. You are omnipresent here always popping up, inviting people for a stroll through one of your poetic meadows.
