Why have you led me, to this desperate place?
My companions they are wicked, my family I disgrace
Everything you suggested, I wanted to believe
Though there was excitement, I guess I was deceived

I trusted you completely, and wisdom I ignored
There was plenty of adventure, I was never bored
You're a wild Desperado, you never gave a thought
To the consequences or things that we both were taught

Discernment was a stranger, Prudence was no friend
Insight seemed like madness, I only you depend
You have been deceptive, subtle in your deceit
Far from unassuming you never were discreet

Now I must bridle, this desperate heart of mine
Til I train you better a cage I will confine
You'll need to learn compliance, quiet and restrain
Wisdom is your teacher, virtue you'll maintain

The Bible is so crucial, to a heart that will obey
You will find it's wisdom if you only pray
Treasure up it's saying and peace will be your wage
Incline it to discernment, your heart can be your sage

This is quite a melodic piece - I can imagine it being sung.

The first 3 verses are very well written (a tight rhyme scheme and a jaunty metre) but then the poem tends to go off the tracks ever so slightly as you are forced to twist some of the lines in order to maintain the rhyme scheme. The result is that some of them read rather awkwardly..... but a valiant effort
