All hail, the great man has stepped from his plane.
Neither the Queen of England or his great self, bowed,
equal as they are in undeserved adulation.
He warned us of drink.
Thou shalt not have a good time and forget thy troubles
thou shalt suffer and enjoy your suffering
for when you suffer you pray.
He warned us of money and its evils,
that is to say, we have all the gold, so sod off.
He warned of pornography.
Thou shalt not get aroused by members of the opposite sex
best stick with children of the same sex,
for thou shalt not get punished
if you keep your collar white and clean.
Thank the lord, quite literally, he is here,
as I was about to spill my seed with no intention,
of creating a new life.
Then I remembered that wasting a holy sperm
wriggling its way on God's business
is far more problematic than overpopulation.
Hail, the man from the past, has come to bestow
his wisdom learnt over millenia,
dwarfed by science and discoveries,
but riding triumphant over the masses,
high as a kite
on their opium.

All points that the press has been full of, and the vast majority seem to want answers for. Our press is bad enough, you should see German, Austria Portugal and Switzerland! You have addressed a problem that worries many responsible people.

I quoted this here in case the original gets deleted. It's bound to stir up a whole lot of vehement debate! (The last couple of lines are an allusion to Marx, aren't they, although I think he used the word "opiate"?)

They really have to deal with all that. Great one, Jer.

pardon my ignorance but I thought of the Pope. I haven't been reading the news - as long as this person is not a politician, isn't it ok?

thank you Prince
it seems the opiate or the opium depends on who is translating, but the effect is the same. In my first ever post I quoted Shakespeare, would be fun to end on Marx :D

thanks Haunted, they are never gonna deal with that
Delta, get out of jail free card :) thanks vegimite. (yes Pope's visit to this third world country)

This one actually swept something under the rug...but way before that, the Nazi connection... these things don't sit right with me.

Thanks for sharing this wonderful poem first thing in the morning!
But I smell something sarcastic! Am I right on the track?

It depends what is cooking in your part of the world for breakfast Ang, but if its pope on toast (a particular favourite) you may well be right.

as the consumer the choice is yours, but his holiness with all his divine wisdom is watching through his third eye, which, as is obvious to all unopitated observers, is clearly between cheeks beneath the cassocks

At least a politician can be voted out of office. The Pope was chosen by the Vatican mafia to rule the entire Catholic world.

As for the poem Jer, as Haunted said (I think) you missed his quip about the Nazis and atheists having much in common - the man's hypocrisy is mind-boggling. He obviously forgot the blind eye the Vatcan turned during WW2.

"I express my deep sorrow to the innocent victims of these
unspeakable crimes, along with my hope that the power of Christ's grace,
his sacrifice of reconciliation, will bring deep healing and peace to
their lives," Pope Benedict XVI said on Saturday, the third day of his
trip to Britain. "I also acknowledge, with you, the shame and
humiliation which all of us have suffered because of these sins."

Too little, too late?
