I am searching for a short story which is basically about a busload of people who crash or breakdown in a remote area of perhaps a Central-American country (I remember jungle of some type and I think Spanish being spoken). They must stay very quiet at some point to avoid detection by some group of people who will do them harm - possibly guerilla fighters or bandits or etc. A woman on the bus has a baby which begins crying at a very ınopportune time. The author somehow distorts his memory that the woman had a chicken. At the conclusion of the story it becomes clear that the woman suffocates her baby to silence it and thus save the group on the bus from whatever bad fate awaited if they were discovered. This story made a lasting impression. I don't know the author or the title. Any help anyone could give me in locating the story would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and enjoy your days. JKSOUPKİTCHEN
