So, I am writing a novel, and have 60tho words already and I am questioning my writing... I have written it all in 1st person. . and I love it, but there are in all reality 4 main characters. Does it sound rediculous to have the plan of writing 4 books, each of them in one of the main characters POV? Or should I rewrite it and make it all 3rd person?:confused5:

Depends.

I usually find 3rd person narratives more interesting and it gives you a lot more scope for almost everything.

You should do what you feel is right. Go for what'll do justice to your vision.

Some people find they are able to write more naturally in the first person - and it certainly adds an immediacy to any story (the reader is more likey to feel they are sharing the narrator's experiences - first-hand rather than second-hand).

As for 4 characters, each appearing in first person narrative - there are many books that do this successfully. You can either split the novel into 4 distinct parts - if that is feasible and doesn't force the plot into a corner - or headline each new character when he or she 'takes over the reins'. 'Ridiculous' ? - of couse not.

I read a book recently that did that, and maybe they didnt do it succesfully...but I got confused and bored with it. I stopped in the middle because It was jumping back and forth so much.

So at last you've got taste - you know what you like and what works best.

Your challenge is to write in a way that will avoid the pitfalls you can see in other people's work. Good luck.

You are too kind - how can I refuse? On condition that I get to visit you in Arizona of course (a little desert air might be very welcome after the latest battering - winter's on its way up here, alas).
