when I begin to write
"september"
it never does not occur to me that
I am about to write
"sex"
and so I unbend my back and
look out the wall and
wonder if the same occurs to
another at their desk at night and
if they make a small face
(of private silliness or hesitation)
before continuing
"p"

This is a moment I can appreciate.

Do you mean look "at" instead of out the wall?

lumiere,

"when I begin to write
"september"
it never does not occur to me that
I am about to write
"sex"

I wonder what was the reason (to stress?) you wrote "it never does not occur to me..." instead of ex "it always occurs to me..."
I trip on this, but perhaps because I'm a foreigner. Anyhow, to answer your question it more occurs to me with seism but of course we live in different regions.

I love how you "unbend your back" and "look out the wall" (as if it were an open door); there are some inner rhymes and quasi assonances (desk, small face) which all make for a pleasure to read. Thanks a lot

I too feel the ponderous inconguity of the line: "it never does not occur to me that"

and although I got the meaning of "...out the wall..." it sounds like an American colloquialism. Through, instead of out perhaps :D but if you're wondering if I too share the same feeling when writing September, until now at least, I never have :D (Incidentally, I was taught that months and days of the week should have a capital first letter as they are proper nouns, so would that mean that the incipient 'Sex' would be so emphasised?)

On the whole, though I enjoyed this whimsical speculation of yours, Lumiere.

Best, Hawk.

i tripped over that line but realised if I remove the word 'does' you don't think of sex which must mean you do!

sweet and a nice thought (especially for spring in Oz)

Thanks jersea, Bar, Hawk, Delta, for your thoughts (and for your admittances, jersea & Bar, to sharing this occurrence! In any case, if it has never occurred to you before, I'm sure it will bombard you on all sides from now on....:D My apologies.)

"look out the wall" was intentional. I'm not aware of it as an American colloquialism, but now you mention it, Hawk, it does have that feel to it, doesn't it? (And as it happens, I write the date in CAPS, so hypothetically it would be "SEX" :D)

"it never does not occur to me" suggests a slightly different attitude than "it always occurs to me" --- in this case "it never does not" felt a better fit. I can't quite say why , though Delta brings up a good point with "does"!
Maybe it was only effective for me...

I think you're far more justified, Bar, in thinking it with "seism" - both being forces of nature, so to speak.

Thanks again, all.

In late Sextember of the year
I start to feel all over queer
as if I were missing out on something.
But by No-vember,
the feeling’s gone.

What a fresh yet exotic association!
Whenever I read of September, I think of Seven-ber!
